Are Loulou LOLLIPOP silicone bibs worth it?

A few months ago, I introduced solid foods to my daughter. I first fed him purées with a spoon, but after she started grabbing the bowl and reaching out for any food in sight, I incorporated baby-led feeding into the mix, giving her pieces of soft vegetables that she could pick up and feed herself. Thanks to countless videos on the social media, I knew that when babies feed themselves, food flies everywhere. A good bib—with a pocket to catch at least some of what didn't make it into my daughter’s mouth.

Silicone bibs are soft, flexible and waterproof. They can also be wiped clean after mealtime. Most have a lip or pocket at the bottom to catch food that your little one drops so it doesn’t end up on her lap.

I’ve used Loulou LOLLIPOP for 2 months now, I personally love the printed one better than the regular one. I feel that the printed bibs have a bigger and wider pocket, I can catch a lot of food that didn’t make it into my daughter’s mouth. So, for me it is totally worth it!

How many silicone bibs do you actually need to own?

You could probably get by with just one, but it’s never a bad idea to have an extra bib or two around for backup. For newborns who only have some occasional drool or spit up, five bibs may be enough to last the week. For babies who really crank out the drool or spit up, though, you might go through five bibs a day.

So how many bibs do you actually need to own for those messy little eaters? The answer depends on your own family's needs. I have around 5 silicone bibs.

Why Loulou LOLLIPOP silicone bibs?

If your older baby or toddler always tears off bibs with velcro closures, try this. The button closure is more likely to stay put, plus the adjustable buttons are designed to fit kids up to age 3. And if you’re not a fan of the typical baby colors, you’ll be psyched to hear that these bibs come in soothing earth tones like beige, olive and marble. They also have the printed one, which I very like.

A molded, catch-all pouch and easy, wipe-down surface makes for quick cleaning. With reinforced buttonholes for a durable, adjustable fit, this handy bib is available in an array of modern colors and fresh designs to complement baby’s wardrobe.

At last, I had two main concerns with the material and make of the bib - Is it actually waterproof? And how easy is it to clean? We favored bibs that could easily be cleaned in the sink and that dried quickly.Tell me your story about your kids and your bibs.

6 Points to prevent potential risks of using teethers

  • Carefully read the product instructions and warnings, and clean as instructed.

  • Before and after each use, wash with mild soapy water, then rinse with water.

  • Carefully inspect children while they’re using it. If any damage or liquid leakage is found, discard it immediately.

  • Do not put liquid teether in the refrigerator ice tray. The low temperature not only can easily hurt children’s mouth, but also cause the outer layer of toothpaste to burst.

  • Do not hang teether on the child's neck with a rope or strap to avoid accidents.

  • If congestion occurs in young children, send them to hospital immediately for medical treatment.

Beyond the Hype: What Makes a Toy "Award-Winning"? A Look at MOLUK

In a world filled with countless toys, how do you know if a toy is truly good for your child? Beyond clever marketing, certain marks of quality stand out. One of the most respected is Germany's "spiel gut" award, a distinction that has been helping parents choose exceptional toys for over 60 years.

We are incredibly proud that our partner brand, MOLUK, is a consistent winner of this award. To date, 13 different MOLUK toys, including the innovative Oibo and the Nigi, Nagi & Nogi teethers, have earned the coveted 'spiel gut' seal.

But what does that actually mean? Let's dive into why this award is a reliable guide to finding the best toys for your child.

What Does "Spiel Gut" (Good Toy) Mean?

Since 1954, the Spiel Gut organization has brought together educationalists, psychologists, doctors, parents, and design experts to independently test and assess toys. They are not influenced by the toy industry. Their recommendation signifies that a toy has been rigorously tested with children and examined by experts with a positive result.

Their criteria are comprehensive:

  • Play Value

  • Material & Workmanship

  • Construction & Durability

  • Safety & Design

  • Suitability for the appropriate age group

When a toy wins this award, it's a guarantee of exceptional quality and developmental value.

The Spiel Gut Philosophy: Play is Learning

The committee believes that playing is the most effective form of learning in childhood. Through play, children develop:

  • Physical and mental agility

  • Social behavior and imagination

  • Logical thinking and powers of concentration

  • A lifelong joy in being active and creative

Good toys are essential tools that stimulate and encourage a child's natural readiness to play.

Case Study: Why MOLUK's Oibo is an Award-Winner

Oibo is a perfect example of the Spiel Gut philosophy in action. It's an elastic, stackable, rollable, and squeezable sensory toy that grows with your child.

  • It's a Ball AND a Block: Oibo's unique geometry merges a sphere with a cube. This combines the action and fun of a ball with the educational benefits of a building block, encouraging creative construction and active play.

  • It Grows With Your Child: For a baby, Oibo is a perfect grasping and teething toy. A toddler will love how it bounces and rolls, making it ideal for first throwing and catching games. As a child gets older, they can stack and align the pieces, learning about geometry and training hand-eye coordination.

  • It's Designed for Safety and Durability: Made from high-quality, food-grade silicone rubber, Oibo is soft, durable, and easy to clean. It even collapses safely when you accidentally step on it and pops right back into shape.

Watch the video below, and you'll immediately see why Oibo is a toy that captures the imagination!

The Takeaway for Parents and Retailers

  • For Parents: Looking for the 'spiel gut' seal is your shortcut to finding toys that are safe, durable, and packed with long-lasting play value. It's an investment in your child's development.

  • For Retailers: Stocking award-winning brands like MOLUK gives you a powerful competitive advantage. The Spiel Gut award is a trusted, third-party endorsement that communicates quality and justifies a product's value to discerning customers, leading to higher trust and better sales.

At BabyLux, we are committed to finding and distributing brands that meet the highest standards of design and educational value. MOLUK is a shining example of this commitment.

The Safest Teether for Your Baby: A Guide to Silicone, Wood, and Fabric

Editor's Note:

This article has been updated to be a comprehensive, evergreen guide on teether materials. All specific brand recommendations and outdated distribution information have been removed to provide unbiased, factual advice that parents can trust.

Choosing a teether for your little one’s aching gums can be surprisingly complicated. A teether is an object that, when chewed, provides relief to sore gums. They are available in a variety of materials, most commonly wood, BPA-free plastic, natural rubber, and silicone.

So, which teether material is the best and safest one for your baby? Let's break it down.

Safety First: What to Avoid in ANY Teether

Before we compare materials, it's crucial to know what to avoid. You must ensure any teether you choose is free from harmful chemicals.

  • BPA (bisphenol-A): This chemical can disrupt the body’s hormonal systems and is particularly harmful to babies and young children. But be wary: "BPA-free" doesn't always mean safe. Many companies simply replace BPA with BPS (bisphenol-S), which is just as, if not more, toxic. Your safest bet is to choose materials that are naturally BPA/BPS-free, like silicone, wood, or natural rubber.

  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride): This is one of the most toxic plastics and should be avoided in any product your child will put in their mouth.

  • Phthalates: These chemicals are added to plastics to make them soft and flexible. However, they can leach out over time and are known carcinogens.

The Bottom Line: Always read labels and choose products from reputable brands that explicitly state they are free from this entire list of harmful chemicals.

Teether Materials: A Head-to-Head Comparison

Silicone Teethers

Silicone is arguably the most popular material for teethers today, known for its fun, colorful, and attractive designs.

  • Pros: 100% food-grade silicone is soft, flexible, and gentle on sore gums. It's extremely durable and can withstand repeated chewing and cleaning. It's also non-porous, making it easy to sanitize (it's usually dishwasher and sterilizer safe), and can be chilled in the refrigerator for extra soothing relief.

  • Cons: You must ensure it is high-quality, 100% food-grade silicone to guarantee it's free from fillers and harmful chemicals.

Wooden Teethers

If you are concerned about plastics, wood is a fantastic natural alternative.

  • Pros: Hardwoods like maple are naturally antimicrobial and non-splintering, making them inherently safe. They provide a firm, satisfying surface for babies to bite down on, which can offer significant relief. They are a completely natural, chemical-free, and plastic-free option.

  • Cons: They cannot be sterilized in the same way as silicone and should only be spot-cleaned. They can show wear over time and should be treated with a food-safe oil (like coconut or olive oil) to prevent drying or cracking.

Natural Fabric Teethers

Fabric is another great natural option, often combined with other materials.

  • Pros: Soft, absorbent organic cotton or muslin is perfect for soaking up drool. The fabric can be dipped in water and frozen for a cooling, soothing treat for baby's gums. It provides a different, softer texture for babies to explore.

  • Cons: Requires frequent washing to remain hygienic. It's not as durable as wood or silicone for aggressive chewers. Often, the fabric is a component of a larger teether (e.g., attached to a wooden ring).

So, Which Teether Material is Best?

There is no single "best" material—it all depends on your priorities and your baby's preference.

  • For convenience, durability, and cooling relief, silicone is a top choice.

  • For a natural, firm, and antimicrobial option, wood is an excellent pick.

  • For a soft, absorbent, and freezable soother, fabric is a great addition.

Many of the best teethers on the market today combine materials, such as a silicone and wood teether, to give a baby the benefit of multiple textures in one toy.
